It wasn’t me, it’s my DNA – II

Chapter II – The Reckoning I have recently turned 16. Had my fair share of grueling moments. I was going to work on a school project when I heard a noise. knock knock “Who’s there?” I asked. The door then slowly turned and opened as a white beam of light entered the dimly lit room. “Surprise Aidy bro!” It was my younger sibling. Jaxen Dryce. He decided to pull up a prank on me but decided not to go all the way. He had a worried look on his face so I had this small hunch. “You almost scared there, Jax. Don’t try to pull pranks too hard on me.” I said, with a small sigh of relief and a giggle, as I pat my brother gently. J: “So how’s your project going?” A: “I barely started. Glad you asked though. Is something wrong? You almost never come to me for anything; you seem worried. Is everything alright there Jax?” J: “I’m just slightly worried about lil bro, you know how he gets his tantrums. He is quite the hyperactive destruction type.” A: “I know, I know, but it’ll be fine eventually. Don’t worry about it too much. Alan can be quite destructive cause of the explosive hair you know.” gasps “D-did he hurt you anywhere by any chance?” Jax shows his legs, rolled up his sleeves to show his arms. There were dark patches everywhere with blood on them. I’m surprised he managed to stay calm. A: “Bro? Are you alright? What did he do?” hugs him J: “He just threw a ceramic vase at me and it shattered… I’m alright though. Mom gave me some medicine-“ A: “Medicine? Do you mean you had painkillers?” J: “Mhm. And it just killed all the pain like pew pew.” glass break A mechanical claw comes through the window and holds on to my left hand. “Jax! Tell Mom! Go to safety!” I screamed as he ran outside as quickly as possible. I was dragged out of the apartment by this giant claw and I saw myself floating. A second, much larger claw clenched tight near my stomach, and as I looked behind me, a mechanized spider was trying to kidnap me. “What even are the odds…?” I thought to myself. The robotic nightmare suddenly leaped from the apartment wall, activating some boosters or whatnot, launching itself, and me far far away from there. I could see my mom and both siblings looking at me from the now broken window for about a split second, before my field of vision just became a blur. thud I see memories of my dad, old friends, siblings just flash by like an old film reel. A loud electric crackle emanated from the room as I was brought back into consciousness. “Aaaaah!” I exclaimed. I was suddenly awoken in a dark room. “Where am I? Where is that darn spider?” I yelled. Lights slowly turned on. It felt like an operating room. I saw a shadowy figure approach me. “Who are you? And why do you find me so important that you should kidnap me?” I was furious. I couldn’t move my limbs as they were stuck within braces. I tried to break free but they were too tight. “Ivan?!” I screamed. “Isn’t it obvious?” The man said, with a malicious grin as he approached me closer. “Don’t you remember me, lil chap? Dr. Ivan Ivanoff Ivankovich. Pleasure to see you again, young Aiden.” Let’s back up a bit. So this Dr. Ivan is the lead scientist in the production of the bionic limbs in Ivan Corp., previously Bio-Walker Ltd. My dad was the head of the operations and Ivan was his assistant. His latest model for a bionic limb was catered specifically for my father’s missing right arm. And he, in utter desire of ones uppence, planted a time bomb in the arm which was set to detonate on his 45th birthday. I witnessed it happen with my own eyes. “Why do you bring me here, Ivan? First you killed my father and now you want more from us? You’ve gotten number one at your job anyway.” I said. “Oh, you’re so ignorant of this fragile world aren’t you, young Aiden. Ever since I’ve reached the number one spot, I’ve decided to grow more, expand more. I’ve been hunting DNA samples for years now.” Ivan murmured. “DNA samples? Of what? Serpents? Extinct dinosaurs? Poodles?” I jokingly asked. “You’ve got your father’s sense of humor don’t you? Anyhow, do you believe in aliens?” He said as he removed a cloth from a tube filled with a blue liquid, where specks of black blobs were floating around. “I…I think I do now…” I was frightened. My thoughts were all about how he got access to these. “This bad boy here, is a Galvanic Mechamorph from the planet- er- moon of Galvan B. They come from a world far different from ours. And you, my guinea pig, are the first human test subject for my experiment.” Ivan said with a menacing smile and with an evil laugh that ended with a sudden gasp for air. I can tell that he wasn’t in good health. He grabbed a long syringe and proceeded to perform the procedure. The giant mechanical spider approached me near my head before clenching my neck so tight that I couldn’t move. “Hephaestan Neuro Grip. Useful tactic. Learnt from a huntsman.” Ivan said. I remained motionless and in pain, before a stab in my arm caused me to become paralyzed. I could feel the liquid coursing through my skin, muscle, bone, blood and I collapsed almost instantly. I thought it was the end. But it wasn’t.
