The theory of work motivation that I choose is equity theory. Equity theory was founded by John Stacy Adams in 1963. This theory suggests that justice and equality are key components to produce a motivated individual. Stated in (What is Equity Theory?, n.d.) equity theory is concerned with defining and measuring the relational satisfaction of employees. The opprtunity in which this change can be brought is anytime since there is no particular motivational system or any action in particular that the manager use in Adman shop. According to the manager, “ there is no particular action that motivates the employees. We tend to keep the environment more fun”. Additionally, the way in which the job holder’s to adapt to the change is much more important in such a change occurs. In my opinion, I believe the job holder’s are capable of adapting to changes. I have talked and got to know the employees of the shop and from my experience I know that this is possible. I also conducted a personality trait examination of them and found out that they have a lot of faith and trust of the manager. Hence, my decision to choose equity theory to motivate employees. In the end it all comes down to how the employees contribute to the business. Whether or not they are effecting the business in a good or bad way. Due to the change that I have described above, there will be a lot of pro’s than the con’s such as the increase in the amount of hours work, commitment, enthusiasm, experience, increased loyalty etc…. All of this perks comes with the hope of achieving the same kind of responses from the managerial side as well. Responses such as Salary, Bonus, Pension, allowances, flexibility of work schedules etc… These action’s are anticipated by the employees since the equity theory revolves around the relationship between employee and employer.
