The streets were busy as always as the friendly citizens were going on with their lives. This paperwork are getting harder day by day. A feline figure thought as she was doing her daily routine. Her desk was overflowing with paper as usual. After hearing a knock she lifted up her head to see a pair of black eyes along with the violet-blue hair of the knight standing in the doorway. “My Queen, There is a person from the underworld wanting to meet you.” He said with a tint of worry in his voice. Her fox like ears twitched as she looked at him with a more serious face. “Invite them in.” The knight nodded and left as the queen was busy putting away the papers for later. The surrounding got more and more blurry as she got more lost in her thoughts. Everything is a blur. Why can’t I remember anything from that day? All I know is that she was from the underworld. where did she disappear off to? The memory about the white haired girl with blood red eyes appeared into her mind. “My Queen?” She snapped back to reality after hearing the male voice once again. She looked at knight and then at the stranger. Shooting the guy a warm smile she welcomed him. The stranger looked at the royal with a cold stare as she was handed an envelope from him. “Thank you for your time.” was all that he said as he left the room leaving the confused queen and the worried knight standing beside her. “What was all that about?” “I don’t know my queen.” A heavy sigh left her mouth as she smiled at him. “you know you can stop being so formal with me Daimon. After all we are childhood bestfriends.” The knightchuckled hearing that. “Lily, I know that already. That wasn’t the first time you said something like that. But you seem to have forgotten that you are a queen and I’m just a knight. Its a part of my duty to respect you.” “Daimonn.” Lily whined as her ears flopped back. “Alright alright, I’ll stop. where are the others anyway? training?” she shrugged. Looking back at the letter, her smile faded into a frown which caught Daimon’s attention. “Do you think.. its gonna be like last time?” The knight’s eyes widened as he remembered the horror show he saw 5 years ago. “O-of course not. why would you think that?” Lily laughed at the way he reacted. “Sorry, those days are gone now anyway. Although we also can’t let something like that happen again. Strengthen the defenses just in case. I’ll take my leave now.” With that she got up and left with the envelope. Daimon stared at her as she left the room with a sad expression on her face. What exactly are you hiding? [Lily’s POV] I left the room thinking about what had happened that day. Looking down at my palm all I saw was red. The shock and fright I felt cannot be compared to anything else. Feeling a hand on my shoulder I jumped and turned my head around to see that it was William. His snow like white hair locks flowing along with the breeze, His smile that made me feel like as if there is hope to win this war against the underworld. “where are you going?” he asked a simple question to which I didn’t know the answer to. I opened my mouth to to say something but no words came out. Instead I looked at the the concrete floor trying to avoid eye contact with him. I picked up the pace to get to somewhere else. A place that I could be in alone to think. [Third persons POV] Lily tried to get away but he grabbed her arm to stop her in the hallway. “You know you can trust me with whatever is on your mind, right?” William, being the close friend that he is, was worried for her. His worried look only made Lily tear up. “I.. keep thinking about it. Believe me I don’t want to but, it just keeps crossing my mind!” Lily blurted out as she tried not to cry in front of him. Her tail stopped moving, her ears went down as she was starting to shake. William looked around them to see some of the workers staring at them while the others whispering about it. “lets go to a more private place and talk about this, no?” she nodded and walked with him. In the palace garden, the workers were taking care of the plants as the herbalists were picking out what they needed for medicine minding their own business. “So..” William decided to break the silence between him and Lily as they walk down a paved path. “I got a letter from the underworld like last time. Daimon knows about it too.” She scratched the back of her neck trying to make up words to say what was on her mind. “I did tell him to strengthen the defenses just in case something happens.” William thought about what she said for a minute before asking her “Did you read it yet?” He looked at the queen with a more serious face than before. “Well, not yet. but I do have it right here.” She showed him the dark red envelope that had a tint of black to it. “I was thinking of reading it alone but then you just had to appear out of nowhere.” She glared at him in a teasing way which caused him to giggle. “Not my fault that you were being all sad back there. Anyway, should I go get the two troublemakers so that we can read the letter? Or do you still wanna read it alone?” Lily looked at William in a stressful way. “I don’t know.. maybe get the others and meet me in the office tonight.” Nothing much happened that day. Though the queen was somewhat upset it didn’t really affect any of her work. Night time rolled in as the people got to their homes back to their family. The castle guards exchanged their duties as well. William was running down the halls to get to the queen’s work place in time. He had told Daimon and Sophie about the meet up around noon that day. “I’m here!” He said as he opened the door breathing heavily. “You’re all worked up. Did you run all the way here from the cabin?” Sophie said with a serious yet in a playful way. “My duties just finished and I thought that I was late for the meet.” William walked up to the table to see Lily with her eyes closed not paying attention to anything that is happening around her. “She has been like this ever since I came here. I tried to get her attention but she looks like she’s thinking about something serious so I didn’t want to disturb her.” Sophie said, worrying about her best friend. “We’re gonna have to wait till Daimon gets here before we do anything.” William said looking at the clock hanging on the wall. [Lily’s pov] A letter from the underworld that looks the same like last time. Could it be the same message? Maybe not but if it is then we have to be ready. I was too immature last time and thought that it was just a joke and because of that so many people just slaughtered in front of my eyes. From innocent kids to the elderly. And Amel- I snapped back to reality from my thoughts when I heard Daimon calling me. “Are you alright? You’ve been acting different today ever since you got that letter.” Daimon was in front of me with William on the left and Sophie on his right. “Sophie said she tried to get your attention when she got here but you were too into whatever you were thinking. Mind sharing it with us?” [Third person pov] William sounded a little annoyed by the way Lily was acting. “I promise you that you don’t want to know what it was.” She gave him an emotionless look which sent shivers down his spine. Daimon looked at the two as if he knew what was going on between them. “Alright lets get on with the meet shall we?” Sophie decided to break the tension in the room. “Right. The letter.” Lily took the blood red envelope out of the drawer of her desk. The tension in the air was indescribable as the envelope was opened. Lily decided to read the letter for herself. the sparkle in her eyes disappeared as her face went pale. The three friends noticed this change in her expression. “what does it say..?” William decided to break the silence. “A request for another war by the demons.” Lily replied back. “was the last attack not enough for them?” Sophie sounded angry as she said that. “Apparently they have a new ruler now and she wants to see whether we are good enough for trading and other stuff.” “That’s messed up.. Does it say anything else?” Daimon decided to speak up. “Date, time and place. 14th September, 6 PM at the Royal Battle Grounds.” “we better start the training tomorrow since we only have 3 months left.” William was in disbelief after hearing what was on the letter. something’s not right. Daimon thought thinking about what Lily just said. The meeting ended there and the three knights decided to go back to their cabin as Lily went to her bedroom. Today was exhausting. But why another war even if there’s a new ruler? Something isn’t right here. Consequences if we decline? I don’t want anything bad to happen but, I also don’t want this war to take place. Lily thought as she was changing to her night clothes. Laying down on her queen sized bed her mind was overflowing with the possibilities that could take place. The thought kept her awake but she fell asleep quite easily since the day was tiring. Whatever that was going to happen in 3 months, she has to be ready to face it with courage and confidence. ༺☬ End of Chapter 1☬༻ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Author’s note: • Chapter 2 is in progress but it might take a while to come out. •Hope y’all enjoyed this one! •Stay safe and have a nice day. • Bird out! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Originally Written and Posted in CreativeWriter on 5th November 2021 by Evelilyplayz.
